    Job Summary

    Under limited supervision, this position serves to maintain the day-to-day content of the primary DEED external websites. This position serves as a critical member of the communications team, providing guidance, ideas and implementation on new digital tools and website content.

    This position provides communications expertise and consultation. Position develops, plans, implements, and coordinates communications strategy and activities for the agency and division to ensure internal and external stakeholders are well informed. This position will ensure that communications follow enterprise and agency web standards and related laws and rules.

    This role will also work with programs across the agency to help write website content for them as needed.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Manage and update the external DEED websites, including mn.gov/deed, JoinUSMN.com, and LaunchMN.com
    • Collaborate with program staff to create, edit, and organize website content aligned with program objectives
    • Develop, plan, and implement communications strategies to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders
    • Facilitate improvements to website design, navigation, and usability while ensuring ADA compliance
    • Use and maintain tools like content management systems (e.g., Tridion), SharePoint, DreamWeaver, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Sitelmprove)
    • Provide consultation and expertise on digital communication best practices
      This position is telework eligible. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications

      Please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.       Three (3) years of experience planning, designing, writing, editing and implementing effective print and electronic communications, marketing or public relations strategies sufficient to meet agency communication needs

      Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
      • Knowledge of website standards and best practices sufficient to develop and maintain websites and measure usability
      • Skills in using web technologies such as content management systems (e.g. Tridion, SharePoint), HTML
      • Ability to synthesize amounts of program specific language into website content customers can consume and understand, applying plain language standards to communication materials sufficient to ensure clear and concise messaging
        Preferred Qualifications
        • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities (ADA) guidelines, including experience ensuring that websites and documents meet accessibility and usability standards
        • Skill in digital website analytic tools like Google Analytics or SiteImprove to manage, analyze, and optimize website performance
        • Experience with information architecture and website user experience sufficient to ensure content is organized in a meaningful manner
