Position Summary
The Nursing Excellence Program Manager functions to develop,
implement, and evaluate innovation and excellence in nursing
practice throughout the organization, demonstrating leadership,
professionalism, and project management skills.
The position is responsible for activities, structures, and
processes to support the Magnet Recognition program, working in
collaboration with the nursing leadership team and the Chief
Nursing Officer. Activities include establishing, implementing,
promoting, and evaluating a nursing professional practice model and
shared governance. Through a robust knowledge of performance
improvement, monitors processes to promote patient outcomes,
enhance the professional work environment, and maintain the sources
of evidence set forth by the Magnet designation requirements.
Knowledgeable of the healthcare environment, the Nursing Excellence
Program Manager is responsible for coordinating the American
Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet application,
designation, and interim monitoring processes. The Manager
demonstrates excellence and clinical competence in the delivery of
nursing services and patient care, professional clinical judgment,
communication skills, and sensitivity for all customers and the
patient/family needs. The Manager serves as the Magnet advisor and
educator to the leadership team, liaison to the ANCC Magnet office,
chairs the Magnet Steering Committee, and functions as an
interdisciplinary liaison and consultative resource for
administration, nursing, non-nursing employees, physicians, and the
community.
The Nursing Excellence Program Manager is accountable for oversight
and coordination of special projects to promote nursing excellence,
embedding evidence-based practice and research and promoting staff
engagement with the Magnet Recognition Program. In collaboration
with the CPDP director, facilitates and oversees documents,
policies, and activities related to obtaining and maintaining
nursing recognitions, including Magnet designation.
* Master's degree in nursing required. Current Minnesota RN
license, and current experience in clinical nursing practice
required. 5-10 years of nursing practice experience preferred.
* Experience in leadership, consultation, project management,
education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration
preferred.
* Current BLS Certification required.
* Proficient in scholarly writing including grammar, punctuation,
and spelling.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel functions including the
development of tables, graphs, and databases. Readily adapts to
learning new software applications.
