Director of Nursing (DON)Sign on Bonus : $7,500POSITION
SUMMARYThe Director of Nursing is accountable for the development
and maintenance of nursing service objective and standards of
nursing practice. Has administrative authority, responsibility and
accountability for functions, activities, and training of nursing
staff. Is responsible for the planning, development, and
implementation of care delivery systems. Orients, instructs, and
supervises personnel and functions. Coordinates nursing services
with other departments. Maintains supplies and adequate equipment.
Maintains compliance with Federal, State, and local standards and
regulations to assure quality outcome of care.ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESRESPONSIBILITY: To Facilitate the Care
of the Resident Through a Well-Defined Care Delivery System to
Assure Quality Outcome of CareOversees the entire RAI process
including electronic submission, assessment reference date and lock
date.Coordinates MDS and care planning process. Will develop plan
of care in cooperation with nursing staff and interdisciplinary
care plan team.Serves as consultant on admitting and discharge
policies and procedures in cooperation with Social Services and
Administration and completes referrals in a timely manner.Attends
or conducts patient care conferences as needed.Maintains total
nursing care of patients and the accuracy of the nursing care
records thru management of nursing staff.Implements procedures for
general nursing care and for aseptic techniques by applying nursing
policies and procedures.Maintains updated written nursing procedure
manuals at each nursing station, in cooperation with education
directors.Coordinates nursing services for the resident in the
facility with other ancillary services and interdisciplinary team
members.Accompanies or assigns other qualified nursing personnel to
accompany physicians when attending patients.RESPONSIBILITY: Has
Knowledge of and Consistently Applies Established Nursing Policies
and Procedures According to State and Federal Regulations and Nurse
Practice ActIs knowledgeable of and abides by the importance of the
residents' Bill of Rights.Knows and uses standards of care and
specific policies to perform nursing care duties for
residents.Allows autonomous decision making for resident whenever
possible.Abides by and promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement
Program of Monarch Healthcare Management.Implement a medication
administration procedure that assures accurate, timely medicine to
all residentsMeets with the pharmaceutical consultant routinely to
assure proper medication disposition and follow- up recommendations
for drug interactions.Completes forms properly and timely as
required by State and Federal agencies; i.e., QAR, MDH,
etc.LRESPONSIBILITY: For the Staffing and Efficiency of the Nursing
DepartmentWorks with budget as outlined by Administrator and
Monarch Healthcare Management.Meets with sales representatives as
needed.Delegates and oversees inventories, orders and maintains
supplies and equipment for the Nursing Department.Reports equipment
in need of repair to the Maintenance Director as necessary.Works
with Administrator regarding purchase of high cost
equipment.RESPONSIBILITY: For the Ordering, Receiving and Storage
of New Equipment and SuppliesWorks with budget as outlined by
Administrator and Monarch Healthcare Management.Meets with sales
representatives as needed.Delegates and oversees inventories,
orders, and maintains supplies and equipment for the Nursing
Department.Reports equipment in need of repair to the Maintenance
Director as necessary.Works with Administrator regarding purchase
of high cost equipment.FACILITY COMPLIANCEPromotes a highly

departmental meetings, Quality Assurance meetings, and others as
directed by the Administrator.Attends educational programs on
Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other
such programs. Further completes audits as designated.Develops and
conducts nursing staff meetings as needed.Maintains and applies
knowledge of current policies and procedures as it relates to your
job responsibilities. Educate necessary personnel, as
needed.Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your
departments and designated by the ADON.Attends all staff education
of the Rehabilitation Center relating to safety, infection control
and disease process.Ability and willingness to work some evenings
and weekends as directed by supervisor.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and
ExperienceMust be a Registered Nurse, currently licensed by the
State of Minnesota, who has training in rehabilitation nursing,
gerontology, nursing service administration, management,
supervision and psychiatric or geriatric nursing before or within
the first twelve (12) months after appointment as Director of
Nursing Services.Must possess the ability to communicate verbally
and in writing when directing the care of residents.Must be able to
perform essential functions of the position with or without
reasonable accommodation.Must qualify for employment, after
criminal background study, per guidelines of Minnesota Department
of Human Services.PreferredExperience in healthcare, skilled
nursing facility or assisted living communityRequired Skills and
